DAYDREAMER’S WEAVE
After moving to Savannah, GA I was able to witness the beautiful empty blue skies that fill so much of the landscape as it’s so flat and the architecture isn’t tall. This weaving is of all the beautiful skies that I’ve been able to witness. Savannah is filled with churches that have high peaks with crosses, the dove in this work soars high like the peaks of churches in the sky

ESPíRITU DEL RECUERDO
The theme of this work is colonization/destroying colonization. I’m mainly focused on Central American (Mexico to Colombia) colonization and the invisibility of indigenous people. I aim to break down and inform myself on my understanding of colonization while “vandalizing” images of colonizers. I’ve always been interested in exploring my identity through my work, and this is specifically about my Hispanic-American heritage.

MARY MANTEL
When I was a kid, lace mantels were always consistent in my visits to Colombia, decorating the homes of my great-grandma, grandma, and aunts. This piece is about self-acceptance and connection to my Hispanic background which was fueled by religion and its many motifs.

APPLE AND EVE
This piece is the beginning of my light figure paintings, and it explores the theme of gluttony. It’s meant to tell the story of the relationship between The Apple and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Adam/The Apple and Eve have been portrayed in many ways for centuries, so this was my contemporary take on biblical writings and paintings.
