Immigrants and children of immigrants have for so long been told what we should want, whether that’s assimilation, citizenship, or acceptance into US hegemony. Our publication aims to show who we are beyond borders, barriers, and brutality—who we are when we create.
We are developing a living, breathing archive of “imaginings” by a multi-racial, -ethnic, and -generational collective of immigrant and children of immigrant authors, artists, musicians, and more. Our publication frames these “imaginings” as sites where our community can create new realities and futures centered on expressing ourselves and reclaiming our innate power.
Why a publication?
Many of grow up in two or more worlds, in two or more cultures, and in two or more states of mind. Many of us try to make sense of it, but what if it may never really make sense? What if the lines are not so clear cut? These experiences shape our lives, our imaginings, and our creations.
We are deserving of a platform that showcases the plurality of our realities. Where we can defy the logic of exclusion and embrace who we are on our own terms. This is that space.

Why immigrants & children of immigrants?
We are sisters that come from a mixed status households. One of us grew up undocumented and one of us was born in the United States. Unfortunately this reality continues to shape our lives, opportunities, and feelings of freedom. This injustice unites us, but we are also on different paths to discover what belongings means to us.
This is an acknowledgement that our community is extremely diverse and we are all on different paths, but that doesn't mean we can't learn from each other. The diaspora is strongest when united across our differences. This is how we humanize ourselves.
